Israeli innovation and tech expertise will help India face water challenges posed by a range of factors, including a growing population, climate change and poor resource management, as part of a new agreement dubbed “The Water Challenge.”
A Memorandum of Understanding on the project was recently signed by Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon and Karanpal Singh, the founder of Indian venture capital company Hunch Ventures and of Indian startup accelerator The Circle: Founders Club.
The project will see the creation of an accelerator program to encourage Indian startups in this field, bringing in Israeli specialist knowhow for mentorship, networking and collaboration.
The Israeli Embassy in India said the program would include Israeli and Indian experts to “harness the power of innovation from both nations and address crucial water challenges of our time.”
The startups will also receive input on the business side of innovation, such as commercialization, market access and fundraising.
“This 3-month long acceleration program is a promising opportunity for start-ups in the field of water to innovate, collaborate, and create sustainable solutions,” said Ambassador Gilon.
“Israel is the global leader in water technologies and given India’s large population we are thrilled to work together towards sustainability and water security,” Singh said.
The MoU comes two months after Israel reached an agreement with the Indian state of Punjab to use Israeli technology to improve its water management system.
